Thandie Newton was born in Zambia in 1972 to a Zimbabwean mother and British father who moved their family to London when Newton was four. She then lived in Cornwall on England's south coast until age 11. At that time she enrolled in London's Art Educational school where she studied modern dance. However, a back injury forced her out of dance. It was while school that the actress met Australian director John Duigan, who was casting his coming-of-age tale Flirting (1991). Newton won a leading role as the smart, worldly girlfriend of the film's protagonist and starred alongside a then relatively unknown Nicole Kidman. Her next film of any significance was 1994's Interview With the Vampire, in which she had a minor role which, ironically enough, called for her to be killed off by Kidman's husband, Tom Cruise. The same year Newton acted as part of an ensemble cast in Loaded, a fairly obscure film directed by Anna Campion, sister of The Piano's Jane. She was then reunited with Flirting director Duigan in 1995 for The Journey of August King, a little-seen feature in which she starred with Jason Patric. Greater recognition came in the form of the same year's Jefferson in Paris, a critically maligned but impressively cast film in which Newton played Sally Hemings, slave and lover of Nick Nolte's Thomas Jefferson. Acting alongside individuals such as Nolte, James Earl Jones, and Gwyneth Paltrow certainly did little to hurt Newton's reputation, and the next year she had yet another starring role, this time opposite Jon Bon Jovi in her third film with director Duigan, The Leading Man. Despite her leading status, Newton still hovered on the border of relative obscurity, something that finally began to change with three 1998 films in which she had major roles. The first was Vondie Curtis Hall's Gridlock'd, a film that won Newton raves for her turn as a heroine-addicted jazz singer opposite Tim Roth and Tupac Shakur. Newton's second film that year, Beloved, won her further recognition, both for her mere presence in the highly-anticipated adaptation of Toni Morrison's novel, and for her portrayal of the mysterious, ghostly girl who torments Oprah Winfrey's Sethe. Finally, it was with her third film of 1998, Besieged, that Newton graduated from relative obscurity to the rank of Hollywood Up and Comer. The film, which was directed by Bernardo Bertolucci and co-starred David Thewlis, received stellar reviews, many of which singled out Newton's performance for particular praise. This, along with a coveted spot on the April 1999 cover of Vanity Fair's annual Hollywood Issue, further cemented the actress' well-deserved status as one of the industry's latest Forces to Be Reckoned With. In 2000, Newton further ascended the ranks of recognition when she starred opposite former Interview With the Vampire co-star Tom Cruise in John Woo's Mission: Impossible II; although the film received mixed reviews, Newton earned almost unanimous approval from critics who praised her strong, dynamic performance. Recently starred opposite Mark Walhburg in The Truth About Charlie.

Born November 20th, 1956 in Long Beach, CA., Bo is the oldest of four children, followed by her brother, and two sisters. Christened Mary Cathleen Collins, she was known as Cathleen or Cathy in this Irish/German/Dutch-California family. Recently, in Santa Barbara Harbor, Bo was rigging a Hobie Cat Sport to sail and someone remarked this was no problem for Cathy as she's always been really athletic and a great sailor. Turns out these were some old friends from the days her father worked in advertising for Hobie. Bo describes her father's connection to Hobie as just one of his fun jobs, "He took care to find jobs which involved the 'toys' he liked, so he was always bringing home prototypes to try out. "To us kids, it was great fun. As a teenager I wasn't very ambitious and had no big plans. I certainly never dreamed of going into films, my main interest was the beach and I assumed I'd end up working in a surf shop." While growing up, people often told Bo she should be a model. Being blonde, blue-eyed and straight featured is certainly a formula for pretty. Modeling didn't particularly interest Bo at first until she figured the money would help buy a new surfboard! At 15 Bo got a modeling job in Hawaii where her dad was working with a boat company. She was a natural. She had years of experience being photographed playing with the new sailboat or dirt bike or whatever her father was advertising at the time. Next came a TV commercial advertising a deodorant, a speaking part - three words. Soon afterwards, backstage at one of Ann-Margret's shows in Las Vegas, Bo met a theatrical agent. "You should be in movies", he told her and signed her up...

Tia Carrere was born on January, 2nd 1967. She was discovered in true Hollywood fashion. While shopping in a grocery store, she was approached by an elderly couple whose son was about to start shooting a coming-of-age film called "Aloha summer" and needed a young actress for the starring role. Tia landed that role, put the money in her pocket, and headed for Los Angeles. While there, she began to develop a modeling career, while several bit parts came her way. She appeared in popular television shows such as The A-Team, MacGyver, but hit it big when she was cast in the recurring role of nurse Jade Soong Chung, in the daytime soap, General Hospital in 1985. Tia then made the leap to the silver screen with film roles in Showdown in Little Tokyo (where she had a body double appear nude for her) and Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, both in 1991. But it was after she co-starred with Mike Myers and Dana Carvey in the comedy Wayne's World in 1992 (a role she chose over Baywatch), that American audiences really took notice of the Hawaiian beauty. As Wayne's dream girl, aspiring rock star Cassandra, Tia made it clear that she's worthy of a schwing or two. Tia then joined Sean Connery and Wesley Snipes to star in Rising Sun, and reprise her role of Cassandra in the 1993 sequel to the hugely successful Wayne's World. In 1994, Tia appeared as Juno Skinner in the Schwarzenegger hit True Lies, and appeared in the films Treacherous and Hostile Intentions that same year. Tia can presently be seen as Sydney Fox in the action television series Relic Hunter, and starring in the film Shi (a.k.a. Shi: The Way of the Warrior). When she's not filming, Tia enjoys a successful music career. She started up as a singer in a local band that played Black Sabbath and AC/DC covers and in a jazz orchestra. Later she sang on the Wayne's world 1 album, and after that she released the album DREAM that sold to platinum in the Philippines.

Toni Braxton was born October 7, 1968, in Severn, Maryland, the daughter of an Apostolic minister and a vocalist. Toni, her four sisters and her brother were forced to live under the strict rules of their family's faith. The girls of the Braxton family were not allowed to wear pants, sandals or makeup, were not allowed to have boyfriends, and the children were not allowed to listen to mainstream music. That didn't stop them from listening to music; when their parents were out, they watched Soul Train and listened to music. Toni and her siblings no longer had to sneak around to watch television once her parents joined the United Methodist Church, which had less strict rules. Watching soul greats such as Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan eventually contributed to Toni's musical style. Doe-eyed Toni discovered her talent as a member of the church choir, which her mother encouraged her to join. Although Toni knew she wanted to pursue a singing career, she received a college education at Bowie State University. While studying teaching, Toni never gave up music. She took singing lessons to fulfill her true passion in life. Remaining true to her love for music, Toni and her sisters formed a group called the Braxtons. Signed with Arista, the Braxtons released a single entitled "The Good Life". Although the song was a commercial success, it did manage to catch the ear of Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and Antonio "L.A. Reid", of LaFace Records. "The Good Life" was good enough for Toni's career, as it led to her record contract with LaFace. The aspiring singer broke into the music industry when she had the opportunity to contribute to the Boomerang soundtrack, when Anita Baker backed out because she was pregnant. Singles such as "Give U My Heart" (a duet with Babyface) and "Love Shoulda Brought You Home" both appeared on the Billboard charts. Her work on Boomerang was only an inkling of what listeners would hear from the soulful artist. Her debut album, the self-entitled Toni Braxton, was released in 1993, and spawned the hits "Another Sad Love Song", "You Mean The World To Me" and "Breathe Again". Her critically acclaimed album and Aretha Franklin/Whitney Houston style garnered her the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1993. Her follow-up album, the 1996 Secrets, equally did not disappoint. The singles "You're Makin' Me High" and "Un-Break My Heart" were huge hits, especially the latter which can probably be considered Toni's biggest international single. Toni also contributed to another soundtrack, the female bonding film Waiting to Exhale. After having won the 1997 Billboard Award for Female R&B Artist of the Year, Toni's stroke of success crashed when she filed for bankruptcy in 1998, after litigation with her record company. This did not stop Toni, who got back into the record studio to develop her third album, The Heat, released in April 2000. Although The Heat has not had the same fiery success as her previous albums, her first single, "He Wasn't Man Enough" has been on the Top Ten charts for months, and has become a staple on R&B, Pop and Adult Contemporary radio stations.

Billie Paul Piper was born in Swindon, UK, on the 22nd of September 1982. Growing up with her brother Charlie and sisters Harley and Ellie, Billie knew early on that she wanted to be a performer. An ambitious Billie enrolled in the Sixth Sense theatre company in 1990, which gave her acting experience in several television commercials and an episode of The EastEnders. After a year of studies at Secondary school in her hometown, she was accepted into the Sylvia young Theatre school in London. Despite her attendance at the prestigious school, Billie's busy schedule forced her to continue her education with a private tutor. As a 15 year old school girl, Billie became the youngest female solo artist ever to debut at number one in the UK charts when the feisty 'Because We Want To' went straight to No.1 in the summer of '98. Three months later, she repeated the feat with the follow-up 'Girlfriend', a slower R&B-tingle tune which proved that this was one pop tot who could actually sing. In October '98, the platinum - selling album 'Honey To The B' took Billie career a step on and silenced the cynics who had said her success was sure to be short lived. In May of 2000, 2 years more mature and more experienced, Billie made her anticipated return to the music charts with the release of the single Day and Night, off of her sophomore album, Walk of Life. Billie appeared in the television series Never Mind the Buzzcocks and young Entertainers (as herself) in 1999, and appeared in Music Chronicles in 2000. After having appeared in small roles in movies such as The Leading Man and Evita in 1996, Billie hosted the television feature Billie Wants You!, in 1999. Although she has toured in the US, and has even performed for President Bill Clinton while on tour, Billie has yet to break through in America. But when she does, this princess will reign supreme.

Victoria Davey "Tori" Spelling (born May 16, 1973 in Los Angeles, California, USA) is an American actress best known for her role as Donna Martin in the 1990s teen soap opera Beverly Hills 90210. The daughter of Jewish American parents Candy Marer and Aaron Spelling, a famed television producer with the ABC network in the 1970s, she appeared in a number of guest roles (mostly in her father's shows) such as The Love Boat, T.J. Hooker, Hotel, Fantasy Island, Vega$, and Saved by the Bell before landing a regular part in Beverly Hills 90210, a series co-produced by her father and Darren Star. Often described as having a limited acting range, there was much speculation that she landed the 90210 role through her father's influence. She claimed to have undergone an audition for the role under an assumed name Toria Mitchell. Since the series went off the air, Spelling has worked primarily on independent films including Trick and The House of Yes. She is currently the star of the upcoming VH1 celeberality sitcom based reality show called So NoTORIous. Spelling is a graduate of Harvard-Westlake school. Her brother Randy Spelling is also an actor.

Smart reached her widest audience with a co-starring role opposite James Van Der Beek in Varsity Blues (1999) as a girl who longs for life beyond her small town's high school football-obsessed culture but who, as sister of the injured star quarterback and girlfriend of his idealistic replacement, is tied to it. She was next featured as Shawn Hatosy's upper-class love interest in the poignant 1970s era comedy Outside Providence.
